ABSTRACT

Lymphadenopathy is one of the most common clinical scenarios for the pediatrician. The diagnosis is usually evident from history and physical examination in most of the children. Majority of cases have benign, self limited processes like infection and nonspecific reactive hyperplasia. Less common causes include immunologic, metabolic, neoplastic diseases and other disorders. Parents might have concerns about malignancy and reassuring them could be quite challenging. Timely and appropriate work-up and consultations to diagnose an underlying severe disorder would be life-saving. This review summarizes the approach to children with lymphadenopathy.
