ABSTRACT

Infection with Ebstein-Barr virüs (EBV) causes clinical signs such as fever, tonsillitis, lymphadenitis in adolescents, whereas it is mainly asymptomatic during early childhood. Elevations in liver function tests are known signs in EBV infection but acute acalculous cholecystitis (AAC) is rare. Herein, we report AAC in the course of acute EBV infection. Physicians should keep in mind that acute cholecystitis may develop during the course of EBV related infectious mononucleosis and this complication will recover-paralel to the clinical improvement of the primary disease.
