ABSTRACT

Sucrase-isomaltase deficiency is one of the absorption defects that is characterized by chronic osmotic diarrhea. In this article, the case of a 20-month-old girl is presented. Depending on the chronic diarrhea episodes, initially the diagnosis was thought to be lactose intolerance but after clinical observation and nutrition logs, it was decided that she had sucrase-isomaltase deficiency. Although the frequency of sucrase-isomaltase deficiency is greater than the lack of lactase encountered, because of the diagnostic difficulties in our country, very few are diagnosed.
